Avenue Q The Internet Is For Porn

It has often been debated whether or not pornography should be allowed in a marriage relationship, or whether it can be a contributing factor in the high divorce rates of recent years. Though the best determining factor in how much and what type of pornography or adult material is suitable in a marriage should be up to the married couple, there has been research as of late that could prove to change couple's opinions on the issue of pornography.

Today’s definition of pornography has broadened from its original Greek roots. The prefix porne refers to “female captives” while graphy means “to write.” Though sexually explicit writing is often included in a definition, it has now expanded to encapsulate literature, film, photographs and almost anything that expressly intends to be sexually stimulating.

According to Safefamilies.org, within this definition there are estimated to be:

  • 1.3 milliion pornographic websites and 260 million pages.
  • Almost 1 billion adult video rentals.
  • 75 million unique visitors to adult web sites.

There could also be many more statistics included on the wide spread use of pornography, not to mention the use of child pornography. However, the three above statics suffice to demonstrate the prevalence of pornography.
